Definition

What is teeth whitening?

Teeth whitening is an aesthetic procedure that brightens tooth color by breaking down staining substances with a whitening agent, without reducing the tooth.

It naturally brightens teeth that have yellowed from coffee, wine, smoking, or aging.

Unlike laminates or crowns, it does not alter the tooth structure at all, making it known as the most conservative aesthetic treatment.

Dr. Beauty Dental Hospital checks for cavities and gum condition before the procedure and performs whitening safely.

Benefits

What changes after teeth whitening?

  • 01The most conservative aesthetic procedure with no tooth reduction — improving only the color without altering structure
  • 02Fast results in 1–2 sessions — office whitening completes in about one hour
  • 03Natural brightness — a tone that suits your natural teeth, not an artificial porcelain white
  • 04Minimal discomfort — a safe procedure with virtually no side effects beyond temporary sensitivity
01Patient concern

Won't whitening weaken my teeth?

Professional whitening is known not to damage the enamel. The whitening agent selectively breaks down only the staining substances, and the tooth structure itself does not change.

02Patient concern

Won't the sensitivity be severe?

Temporary sensitivity may occur after the procedure, but it is reported to resolve naturally within 1–2 days. For patients with high sensitivity, a low-irritation whitening agent is used.

03Patient concern

Is one session enough?

A noticeable change appears with 1–2 office whitening sessions, and combining home whitening can achieve a brighter and longer-lasting result.

04Patient concern

Are there food restrictions after whitening?

Avoiding staining foods (coffee, wine, curry, cola) for 24–48 hours after the procedure helps the effect last longer.

05Frequently asked

How much does whitening cost?

Office whitening and home whitening are non-covered (out-of-pocket) procedures, and the cost varies by method and scope. We provide an accurate estimate after a thorough examination, and the non-covered fee schedule is available on our website.

06Frequently asked

Which is better, whitening or laminates?

Whitening improves only the color and does not reduce the tooth. Laminates improve color, shape, and alignment simultaneously but require tooth reduction. For simple discoloration we recommend whitening; if you also want to change the shape, we recommend laminates.

07Frequently asked

How long does sensitivity last after whitening?

It usually resolves naturally within 1–2 days. For patients with strong sensitivity, we provide fluoride application and a toothpaste for sensitive teeth.

Precautions after whitening

  • 03Brush gently with a soft toothbrush
  • 04Smoking quickly reduces the whitening effect, so quitting is recommended
  • 05Regular scaling to prevent staining helps the whitening effect last longer

How teeth whitening is done

Day 0

Oral Examination & Shade Measurement

Cavities and gum condition are checked, and the current shade is recorded with a shade guide.

Day 1

Office Whitening Procedure

Gum protection applied → high-concentration whitening agent applied → light activation for 15–20 minutes, repeated 2–3 times. Completed in about one hour in total.

Week 1–4

Home Whitening (Optional)

A custom tray is fabricated to apply a low-concentration whitening agent at home for 30 minutes–2 hours daily. This reinforces the office whitening effect and extends its duration.

Month 6+

Maintenance Whitening

A touch-up whitening every 6 months–1 year helps maintain the bright shade.
